Literacy and numeracy are the fuel to my teaching engine. I enjoy being diagnostic and making sure I fill the gaps that I may notice students have. This way we also work quickly and efficiently towards the end goals.
I thrive on seeing students feel successful and proud of their efforts. I love building trusting and pleasant relationships and believe that once these are in place, happy kids can learn better.
I have also completed training through the Orton Gillingham approach to teaching students with dyslexia and look forward to making a difference, one lesson at a time.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning in 2003 and then went on to study and gain a Trinity Certificate of ESOL (English to speakers of other languages). This saw me spend two years in Japan, teaching English in junior and senior high schools.
Since returning to New Zealand 10 years ago, I have taught in a range of different settings including primary, secondary and at an English language school with adults.
I am passionate about relationship based teaching and feel that when a student feels safe and valued their learning will soar. I am encouraging, warm and strive to have every student see themselves as a successful learner.

Working with and being surrounded by children from a young age developed my passion for teaching. I first began volunteering/working at my local dance studio where I discovered my passion for teaching children. I then made the first step to study and graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary Specialisation). In my second year, I acquired a job as an English and Maths tutor. I have met some fantastic students along the way and have witnessed some incredible ‘light bulb’ moments. I now teach in a year 3/4/5 classroom. I have a strong interest in building relationships with the children I teach. My students find me approachable and easy to talk to.
I am incredibly passionate about catering the learning to the learner’s needs and will always strive to provide the best education for my students. I aim for success for all of my students – whatever that may look like.

I have over 20 years teaching experience in New Zealand education, beginning in the tertiary sector. For the last 10 years I
have been a primary school teacher, and have thoroughly enjoyed
assisting many students to achieve confidence and success with
their learning. I am proud of my students' results and of the empowerment it gave each
one of them.
A passion for student empowerment led me to obtain a Masters degree specialising in Education as well as a graduate degree in
teaching and learning. I believe the most noteworthy qualification I
hold is my experience in relating to, and being able to motivate young people to become passionate about their own learning.
Seeing the sparks start to fly when a child begins to realise their capabilities is truly rewarding.

I am an enthusiastic young teacher with a knack for making learning exciting and enjoyable. Motivated by the belief that all children can be successful learners. Teaching for me is a highly honorable profession, I take great pride in the responsibility I have to educate the students under my care.
My life has presented me with unbelievable experiences and opportunities that have crafted me into the young man I am today. I hope to use my own experiences and skills to support students the best I know how.
Outside of teaching I am a huge sports fan in particular football and futsal. I play and coach both sports. I also enjoy building lego and playing a range of different games.
